The annual Wellington School Arts Premiere is slated to entertain and dazzle Wellington families and friends on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at The Wellington School!
Featured Artist Jenny Fine will showcase the event this year. Born the daughter of a farming family in southeastern Alabama, Fine was selected as the 2012 Artist-in-Residence for The Wellington School. She will work with Wellington students of all grades to create mixed media photography and stop motion film projects, while integrating historical photographic techniques into 21st Century media. A photographic story-teller, Fine will empower students to tell their own stories through art.
“Our goal is to raise at least $150,000 through Arts Premiere,” said Barbara LeVeque’12, event co-chair. “We think this will be one of our best events yet!”
Carol Manley ’24 ’21, event co-chair, believes the event will be a tremendous success given Jenny Fine’s role as Wellington’s artist-in-residence.
“Jenny’s ability to bring stories to life for our students is incredible,” Manley said. “The artwork she is creating and will be auctioned at Arts Premiere is truly one-of-a-kind.”
Since its inception in 1996, Arts Premiere has raised more than $2 million in support of school programs. What began as a simple show to “premiere” students’ art, the event has grown into a memorable gala featuring the artwork of our students, alumni and nationally renowned artists.
