Visions of a long, snowy winter break danced in everyone’s heads as Wellington celebrated community, caring, and compassion in time-honored school traditions. The day before winter break began, lower school students listened to a fireside story read by Head of Lower School Jill Webb about a little hedgehog who must rebuild his home after the wind has blown it away and, yet, still wants to share what little he has left with others in need. After the story, students all sang “Petit Papa Noël” as they returned to their classrooms and discovered a surprise treat Père Noël had left for them.
Later in the day, lower school invited families to their winter parties before joining the rest of the community at the Holiday Sing. Parents and and students of all ages joined together singing musical selections from holidays of many beliefs and faiths, including Ramadan, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. It was a sweet send-off before the new year.
