Golf Team Breaks Record

Boys varsity golf started the season in dominating style. They won the Mid-State League Preseason Tournament with an incredible 5 under par score of 283. Jack Doody ‘18 and Garret Thesing ‘20 shared the title of medalist for the match. This score also marks an all-time record for Wellington boys golf!

Coach Craig Mosier ‘01 attributed the team’s success to the players’ hunger to post the lowest score possible. With only a couple holes to play, Mosier knew they had the win well in hand but wanted to challenge the team a bit. “I never talk score,” he said, “but I told three of the guys that we were right around par, and those three guys all finished par-birdie. Many players might have been uncomfortable with the situation, but they just wanted to keep going more under par. It was remarkable.”
