Lower school students danced their hearts out during a month devoted to learning how to move their bodies. Combining elements from music and physical education classes, students were given lessons in a variety of dance styles, from traditional folk to jazz, contemporary, and more. They learned to stay on the beat and really listen, as well as how to tackle choreography, coordinating their arms and legs all in time to the music. They also made important historical and cultural connections between older dances like the Charleston and modern hip hop.
It was hoppin’ good time for all!
