Students ended the school year with fun music, dancing, and performing. The professional jazz trio, Jump for Jazz, introduced lower schoolers to the vocabulary, reading patterns, and instruments of the genre during a program of listening, singing, and jumping to a selection of classics. Jump for Jazz was presented by the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus and was made possible by the PNC Grow Up Great Program.
The final week of school also marked the string instrument debut of Wellington 4th graders when they performed in concert for family, friends, and 3rd graders. Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” as well as folk songs “Frère Jacques” and “Boil Them Cabbage Down,” a rousing number that called for the young musicians to pluck, slap the bass, and stomp their feet.
The foot tapping could not be stopped with the stirring sounds of music sending students into summer.
