At Wellington, we are dedicated to fostering a community of curious, confident, and capable students by ensuring that a transformative education is within reach for more families. Through our partnership with the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS), your gift to the Wellington SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) directly supports student scholarships while qualifying you for a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit. As an SGO, we provide a unique opportunity for philanthropic impact that benefits both deserving students and you as a donor.
This approach amplifies your generosity, allowing you to invest in a mission that reflects your values: empowering future leaders, thinkers, and innovators. Together, we can expand access to an education that inspires students to discover their passions, pursue excellence, and drive meaningful change.

SGO Tax Credit and The Wellington Fund
No, The Wellington Fund and the Ohio SGO tax credit program serve distinct purposes, but both contribute to the success of Wellington students.
The Wellington Fund is our top priority for philanthropic support. Annual gifts to The Wellington Fund provide flexible resources that benefit the entire school community, including enhancing campus facilities, supporting faculty, and funding innovative programs that elevate the Wellington experience for all students.
The OAIS SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) focuses exclusively on providing need-based scholarships. Contributions to the SGO directly fund scholarships for Wellington families and offer donors a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their Ohio state taxes.
While both support tuition assistance, The Wellington Fund offers the greatest flexibility to address the school’s most pressing needs, making it an essential part of our ability to sustain and grow our mission. SGO contributions complement this work by expanding access to a Wellington education.
We encourage you to prioritize The Wellington Fund and consider making an additional gift to the SGO. As always, consult your tax advisor to see how an SGO contribution could benefit you.
All contributions to The Wellington Fund are tax-deductible since Wellington is a recognized 501(c)(3) educational institution.
However, while your gift to The Wellington Fund is deeply valued and impactful, it does not contribute to the OAIS SGO. As such, it does not qualify for Ohio’s SGO tax credit. Only donations made directly to the OAIS SGO are eligible for this tax credit.
We recommend consulting your tax advisor to determine how an SGO donation may benefit your Ohio tax return.
"It was easy setting up an account for me and my wife. Wellington will be receiving $1500 from us. This should be very low hanging fruit for the development office. Seems too good to be true. "
