Summer Program

Wellington Summer Program

It is with heavy hearts that we have decided to cancel the remaining five weeks of the Wellington Summer Program (July 6-August 7). These programs will not be rescheduled.

Select programs and workshops will be offered during the months of July and August for students in all divisons. Please see more information below in the most recent communication from Head of School Jeff Terwin.

What you need to know

Dear Parents,

Our supplemental academic program is designed to help support students by reinforcing and reviewing some of the work that was done in the spring, while also keeping an eye on the return to school in the fall. A combination of small group tutoring, along with unique mini courses should help students to find some interesting ways to engage with academic work. These programs will be offered to Wellington families with no additional fees. You can respond with interest to the offerings presented, and then the teachers will reach out to you with the specific details of the programming format and expectations. The July offerings will all be online, and we are waiting for additional guidelines that will help us determine whether some of the August offerings can be on campus. All the courses are optional.

There are additional for-credit courses that are offered for upper school students as well. These are courses that had been designed for the original Summer Program and have been redesigned for an online format. These courses have specific requirements resulting in academic credit and have a fee. Please see this list of offerings and sign up forms for each division.

Dear Upper School Parents,

I am excited to share details of these upper school for-credit programs and workshops we will offer upper school students during the month of July. We have worked hard to pivot some of our previously scheduled upper school summer programs into an online format. You will find detailed information, including price and program description, for each program attached to this email.

Please read on for specific details, classes and dates:

  • Registration:
    • Registration for these programs will open on June 8 at 9 a.m.
    • Online registration is fast, safe, and easy! Previously enrolled families can use their current login and password to register beginning Monday, June 8, at 9 a.m. at www.wellington.org/summer.
    • Please note, we use a registration platform called Ultracamp, which is separate from Veracross. For assistance, please contact summer@wellington.org
  • Academic credit details:
    • Students will earn 1/3 credit (the equivalent of one trimester) for each for-credit program they complete.
  • Class timing, detail and format:
    • Each class will begin daily, Monday – Friday, at 9a.m.
    • These programs will operate exclusively online with no in-person requirements.
    • Classes will be hosted on the Zoom platform.
    • Each class will take on a structure of their own based on the teacher/class.
    • All of these programs are taught by Wellington teachers whom have been using the distance learning approach since early April, which allows us to confidently move forward with these course offerings.
    • You can expect a combination of lectures, homework and field assignments for these programs. Rest assured, no program will meet exclusively on Zoom for 3 hours straight.

We are eager to return in Summer 2021, with all the excitement and program offerings we had worked hard to cultivate for you this summer. Please feel free to contact us directly at summer@wellington.org with any questions.

Director of Summer Programs

In light of this week’s direction from Governor DeWine to continue learning from home through the end of the school year, we have decided to cancel the first four weeks of the Wellington Summer Program (June 8-July 3). These programs will not be rescheduled. Please know that this decision was made with a heavy heart. We explored many different scenarios, but our number one priority is the health and safety of your child. Please read on for more important details about refunds and future programs after July 3.

  • We will provide a full refund of program fees, including the $50 nonrefundable fee per program and all lunch and extended care fees, for all programs scheduled from June 8-July 3. We will begin processing refunds next week and the process may take a couple of weeks to complete. If you paid with a credit card, we will process your refund back to the credit card you used to make the original purchase. If you paid with a check, we will mail you a check to the address you have listed in Ultracamp. The check refund process may take a bit longer due to the restrictions we have while working from home. Please do not make any changes to your Ultracamp account during this time. We will make all of the necessary changes needed to process your refund.
  • While we are hope to begin the Summer Program on July 6, we have extended the current cancellation cutoff date to June 1 for any program starting on July 6 or later. We expect to have more clarity on the rest of the Summer Program in the coming days. You will receive an additional update by June 1, or as soon as we can provide more information.

We appreciate your support throughout this uncertain time. Our Summer Program staff is so disappointed to miss out on this time with you children. Your patient and sympathetic emails have not gone unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.
