August 6, 2020 Campus Reopening Plan Communication

This is a copy of email communication sent to all Wellington parents.

Dear Parents,

I hope this note finds you well and perhaps enjoying at least a few moments of peace during what has to be one of the most challenging summers we’ve ever faced. In the midst of so much happening, and so very quickly, each and every day, I cannot thank you enough for your patience and understanding as our school has explored, designed, and redesigned a safe return to campus. I truly believe that nowhere else but Wellington, could we have so many dedicated and passionate faculty members and administrators working tirelessly to deliver a meaningful and impactful educational experience for our students while also being cognizant of the health and safety concerns and needs of our entire community.

I am pleased to share that we will welcome students back to campus for their first full academic day, all together, on Tuesday, September 8. A key element to our plan involves a slower progression of students’ return to better ensure all members of our community are fully acquainted with the new policies and protocols we will require of them. Those activities will take place August 26 - September 4, and you will learn more from division heads in the coming weeks. For the latest reopening plan in its entirety, please click here.

While we have done our best to address as many details as possible in the latest version of our plan, please know that this is still in draft form. I continue to encourage you to provide feedback and also attend our upcoming Back to School Town Hall on Tuesday, August 11 at 8 p.m. in which I will provide an overview of the plan while also addressing questions and concerns from the community. Please register by clicking here

Also, once you have reviewed the plan, please take a moment to complete a brief survey on Veracross about whether your child will be attending school in person or remotely for the first four weeks. This will help us manage the very complicated campus planning regarding staffing, schedules, and lunch.

  1. Login to Veracross
  2. Click on your Family Profile
  3. Click the orange button on the right titled “Return to School Survey”

Without question, we are living in a complex time with the extent of its impact wide-ranging for many of us. More than ever, this moment requires that we pull together and support one another. I feel more fortunate than ever to be a part of this amazing community, knowing how we have persevered in the past and trusting what we will accomplish in the future. Thank you for your partnership on this incredible journey.

Warm regards,

Dr. Jeff Terwin
Head of School
