Halle Roberts
Graduation Year: 2015
Location: New York, New York
Type of Creative: Artistic Director and Author
What They Do: Creator and editor-in-chief of a quarterly magazine called Pinky, influencer marketing/earned media professional. Also produced a play in New York City called "GOD MODE."
Their Journey: Halle went on to Marymount Manhattan College to study psychology and creative writing before working in social media and influencer marketing for five years in New York. This experience gave her the confidence to break off to leverage her skills and create a quarterly magazine called Pinky. This printed quarterly magazine has been independently published for three years and focuses on “girl stuff, not just female stuff,” as Halle puts it. Each issue has a “cheeky” theme and is designed to provoke thought about a wide range of subjects such as Innerchildhood: child bedrooms vs adult bedrooms and quitting as a form of empowerment. Her upcoming issue plays on the doubling meaning of “Coding.” It will explore “coding through technology as well as how we create our personal identity through the amalgamation of codes in our lives.” She expects to include a funny personal story about her experience with the Wellington dress code!
The Wellington Impact: Halle credits Wellington for giving her the confidence to believe in herself. When she came to Wellington in high school, she was certain that she was going to be a performing artist focused on theatre, but when she ended up making her college decision, she had the self-awareness to know that was not her passion anymore. “Wellington gave me the willingness to give anything a shot,” she said, and hone her ability to learn new things. She appreciates that the school gives people the room to grow.
