This April, Wellington celebrates the Abbott Family Learning Center and the incredible leadership of librarians Patty Dunn and Becky Woodruff, who help ignite curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
School Library Month, a national celebration organized by the American Association of School Librarians highlights school libraries' essential role in transforming education. At Wellington, the Abbott Family Learning Center is far more than a place for books — it is a vibrant hub for research, discovery, collaboration, and exploring interests.

Led by Head Librarian Patty Dunn and Teaching Librarian Becky Woodruff, the Abbott Center manages a dynamic collection of more than 32,000 books and supports students at every grade level. Mrs. Dunn and Ms. Woodruff guide students through academic research, pull curated books for classroom learning, facilitate inter-library loans, and provide personalized reading recommendations, often adapting to fun and creative requests. Recent favorites have included books about sneakers, mythical creatures, and even "unicorn science" — the subject of a kindergarten passion project.
With deep care and quiet diligence, Mrs. Dunn and Ms. Woodruff make the Abbott Center a space where students feel encouraged to explore, imagine, and grow. We are grateful for all they do to nurture a community of curious, confident learners.
