Jags on the Roam: Bice Garcia-Dolciato ’96

Editor’s Note: Wellington alumni continue to amaze us with the many ways they shape their communities and industries. From entrepreneurs and innovators to educators and artists, they are charting bold paths forward while staying rooted in the values that connect them back to Wellington. Jags on the Roam celebrates these stories, offering a window into the impact our graduates are making in the world.

For Bice Garcia-Dolciato ’96, showing up fully—at work, on the field, and for others—has always been second nature.

Bice has spent the last 25 years at Abbott Nutrition, exploring a wide range of roles from sales operations to consumer relations, marketing, and healthcare education. Today, she manages the Adult Healthcare Education portfolio for the Abbott Nutrition Health Institute. Her favorite part of the job? Helping healthcare professionals better understand the power of nutrition and how it can truly change patients’ lives. “Nutrition  isn’t always top of mind in clinical practice,” she says, “so being able to help shift that mindset is incredibly meaningful to me.”

Outside of work, lacrosse has always had her heart. After playing at the collegiate level and spending time on the women’s national team, Bice quickly realized how important it is to have passionate coaches and officials supporting a sport that’s still growing. That realization led her back to Wellington, where she took on the lacrosse program with high expectations—and an even bigger belief in her players. What happened next was something special: the team went on to win Wellington’s first‑ever state championship in 2000.

After spending a couple of years at Wellington, she went on to take on additional coaching roles, leading teams to winning seasons. She also stayed deeply involved in the sport by serving in various leadership roles on the board of the Central Ohio Women’s Lacrosse Officials.

Today, Bice serves as Head Coach at Worthington Kilbourne and also officiates lacrosse games whenever she can. During lacrosse season (November through May), most evenings are spent at the field or handling the many behind‑the‑scenes details that come with coaching. For Bice, it’s never just about wins and losses—it’s about confidence, connection, and building a true sense of community.

In 2024, an especially meaningful chapter unfolded when Bice was named Head Coach of the Women’s Peru Lacrosse World Qualifier Senior Team. As a proud Peruvian‑American, the experience was deeply personal. Even more special was sharing it with her daughter, Marissa, a goalie at Flagler College, who stood in the net for Peru. Playing against Team USA was epic (and intense!), but the memories made together were priceless.

Beyond competition, the team spent time in Peru teaching lacrosse at private schools and in underserved neighborhoods, introducing the sport to kids who otherwise would never have had that opportunity. They left behind sticks, goggles, balls, and lots of encouragement—planting the seeds for what the game could become.

Bice's record of impact hasn't gone unnoticed. A member of Wellington's Athletic Hall of Fame, she most recently learned on April 11, 2026 that she had been elected into the Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Class of 2026, recognizing her contributions to lacrosse across the state. The induction ceremony will take place on August 15.

When Bice reflects on her journey, Wellington holds a special place in her heart. She arrived with very little, but people saw something in her she didn’t yet see herself. One family even put her first lacrosse stick and cleats in her hands—a moment that changed everything. That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to compassion, belonging, and paying it forward.

Her message to current students and young alumni is simple: be open, say yes, trust the journey, and never underestimate the power of community. You never know where one opportunity—or one person believing in you—might lead.
