Editor’s Note: Wellington alumni continue to amaze us with the many ways they shape their communities and industries. From entrepreneurs and innovators to educators and artists, they are charting bold paths forward while staying rooted in the values that connect them back to Wellington. Jags on the Roam celebrates these stories, offering a window into the impact our graduates are making in the world.

Carolyn Faller '15 is currently a first-year student at the University of Virginia School of Law.  She is a recipient of the Virginia Public Service Scholarship, a full-tuition award given to a student pursuing a public service career in law. Following graduation from Wellington, she earned a bachelor's degree in English and philosophy from Fordham University in 2019. After college, she was a Peace Corps volunteer in Eswatini as an HIV / AIDS health mitigation officer. Most recently, she was working as a senior staff paralegal and housing navigator at Legal Aid Chicago, assisting public housing tenants in eviction court. Faller has witnessed firsthand how legal advocacy can directly assist vulnerable people in society.

Wellington taught Faller how to care for a community while getting to know students in a cooperative learning environment. Wellington's size created opportunities to try new activities at classmates' urging. Clubs and sports she joined with no prior experience included Model United Nations, Ohio Youth in Government, and girls lacrosse.

Faller suggests taking the time to stay involved with the school, get to know your classmates and teachers, and engage in a wide range of interests. Her life and the path she has taken have been enriched by doing so.
