Editor’s Note: Wellington alumni continue to amaze us with the many ways they shape their communities and industries. From entrepreneurs and innovators to educators and artists, they are charting bold paths forward while staying rooted in the values that connect them back to Wellington. Jags on the Roam celebrates these stories, offering a window into the impact our graduates are making in the world.
Obi Johns ’16 is a Columbus-based real estate agent, investor, and content creator redefining what it means to make real estate accessible and engaging for the next generation. Specializing in guiding first-time homebuyers, Johns is also building a growing portfolio of flips and rental properties for himself and his clients.
His creative approach — blending education with storytelling through short-form videos — recently captured national attention. A 30-day Instagram series documenting his first house flip drew more than 3 million views and helped set a new sales record in the 43232 zip code.
Beyond the spotlight, Johns has developed a streamlined system using virtual assistants and outbound marketers to uncover off-market deals and support other investors across Columbus. One of his proudest milestones was purchasing a duplex near Franklin Park, the very neighborhood where he grew up, bringing both personal meaning and investment to his community.
Looking ahead, Johns is expanding nationwide, collaborating with partners to develop rental properties in high-demand cities like Austin, Charleston, and Columbus. Through his growing online influence, he is creating opportunities for others to invest, collaborate, and help shape some of the country’s most exciting new travel destinations.
Johns (far right) gives back to Wellington as part of the JagsConnect program, Wellington's thriving professional network for students and graduates. He was on campus in spring 2025 to meet with 11th grade students to provide career guidance and mentorship. Learn more about JagsConnect.
