Latisha Humphries Named Director of Community Engagement and Belonging

(Columbus, OH) – The Wellington School is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Latisha Humphries as its new Director of Community Engagement and Belonging, effective July 1, 2025. In this role, Humphries will lead the school’s work to ensure every student, family, and faculty member feels seen, supported, and connected—both within the school and across the broader Columbus community.

“Latisha brings a powerful combination of strategic vision, educational insight, and a deep commitment to community,” said Eliza McLaren, Wellington’s Head of School. “Her leadership will strengthen the relationships that make Wellington the best place to learn and teach.”

Humphries joins Wellington from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, where she led statewide initiatives focused on student leadership development, inclusive engagement, and school climate. She previously served as Dean of Students at United School Network in Columbus, supporting restorative practices and student-centered programming. Her work has spanned classrooms, administrative leadership, and state-level education strategy.

At Wellington, Humphries will lead efforts that strengthen the fabric of school life—from how students grow as leaders to how families stay connected and engaged. She will support mentoring and leadership opportunities across all grade levels, help guide student programs like internships and entrepreneurship, and work closely with faculty to support a positive and inclusive school culture. Her role also includes partnering with families, facilitating meaningful service learning, and helping students build connections with the broader Columbus community.

A former English teacher in New York City, Humphries’s early career shaped her enduring focus on centering students and creating inclusive, responsive learning environments. She holds a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Education from Hunter College in the City University of New York.

Humphries’s appointment reflects Wellington’s continued investment in nurturing a dynamic learning community; one where students grow as leaders, families are active partners, and the broader community is part of the learning journey.
