Supported by last year’s Wellington Fund, Marching Towards Justice: Civil Rights and Social Change was a three-week summer course for juniors and seniors led by Molly Owens, middle school social studies, and Chris Robbins P ’17 ’22, upper school English. Students began with classroom study, then traveled through Atlanta, Tuskegee, Montgomery, Selma, Lowndes, and Birmingham to engage with history where it happened.
In their final week, students reflected on their experiences and built a website to share their learning with the wider community. “This trip made me realize how important it is to learn about the history of our country so that we can make it a better future and so that we don’t repeat what happened in the past,” said Timchia Tubuo ’26.
