Transforming Spaces for the New School Year

Transforming Spaces for the New School Year

This summer, Wellington is buzzing with progress — inside and out. As we prepare for the 2025–26 school year, several key campus projects are taking shape, each designed to elevate the student experience, support well-being, and reflect the values that guide our approach to teaching and learning.

Whether it’s a kindergartener stepping into their first classroom, a middle schooler gearing up for fall sports, or an upper schooler recovering after a hard practice, these updates create spaces where students feel known, challenged, and supported every step of the way.

Croft Family Kindergarten Wing Renovation: A Space for the Future

Work is nearing completion on the Croft Family Kindergarten Wing, the first major milestone in Wellington’s long-term campus master plan. On track to be ready for the start of school, the wing features three thoughtfully designed classrooms and a flexible learning space known as the Discovery Den.

These new spaces are intentionally crafted to foster creativity, independence, and connection, reflecting Wellington’s vision for early childhood and lower school education and the deep generosity of Board Chair Jim Croft P ’17 ’20 ’22 and his wife Michelle Croft P ’17 ’20 ’22, whose transformative gift of $500,000 made this project possible.

We’re also looking forward to using the nearly finished Edwards Conference Room, which will serve as a welcoming and functional space for collaboration, planning, and professional learning.

Together, these updates mark an exciting step forward in our campus master plan, and we’re eager to see the learning and community-building they’ll inspire.

You can read about the vision for these new spaces in The Jag Spring 2025.

Athletic Spaces: Support at Every Level

Thanks to generous support from The Wellington Fund, we’ve completed major upgrades to our athletic facilities. Two previously unused classrooms have been converted into dedicated locker rooms for middle school athletes, creating a space that honors their growing identity as student-athletes and encourages teamwork, belonging, and pride.

In addition, we’ve opened a new athletic training room that offers expanded care and support for students across all divisions. The space features a cold tub, treatment and taping stations, rehabilitation equipment, wet areas, and laundry, everything our student-athletes need to recover, strengthen, and return to play safely and confidently.

Tennis Courts: Game, Set, Match

Wellington’s Gross Family Tennis Courts have also received a summer refresh. Funded in part by a $42,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the updates include crack repair, new paint, and the addition of youth lines on two courts to help younger students learn and play with confidence.

Our courts are in constant use throughout the year — supporting over 100 student-athletes across varsity, JV, and middle school teams. They also host Junior Jag Tennis, youth camps, and competitive USTA matches during the summer. These improvements ensure our tennis community continues to thrive and grow at every level.

A Campus That Reflects Our Purpose

From classrooms to courts, each of these spaces reflects Wellington’s deep commitment to creating an environment where students can stretch, stumble, and succeed. We’re grateful to our generous supporters and hard-working facilities team for making these projects possible, and we cannot wait for you to see the results this fall.
