Wellington is now a WILD School Site through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, a certification given to schools that demonstrate curriculum development and habitat enhancement in order to learn about and benefit wildlife and the environment.
At Wellington, we believe in the importance of integrating multidisciplinary programs into real-world applications. Through cross-curricular learning, service projects, and community engagement, we are continuing to build, create, and protect our campus grounds to benefit wildlife, the environment, and our future learners. Whether we look in our gardens, walk along our path, enjoy the honey from our beehives, or sit and observe our Audubon chapter work, we are seeing meaningful learning in action. Each year, we see more native bird species, invite more pollinators to our campus, and restore more native areas for our students and community to engage and explore. By setting the example of how to care for the land, we are teaching our community the value of native wildlife and how to help protect our watershed.
