About the Role

The Wellington School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Learning Guide (assistant teacher) who truly understands the developmental needs of young children.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the lead teacher and the early childhood team to create a consistent, supportive learning environment.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of early childhood developmental milestones and adapt teaching strategies to meet each child’s unique needs.
  • Help develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that nurtures social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Co-create engaging, play-based learning experiences that spark curiosity and support holistic growth.
  • Observe and assess individual progress, ensuring each student receives personalized attention and support.
  • Participate in planning meetings, share insights, and collaborate on classroom management strategies.
  • Foster a warm, inclusive, and safe classroom where every child feels valued and motivated to learn.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
  • Uphold the mission and values of The Wellington School.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
  • Valid Ohio teaching certification or eligibility to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a preschool, with a strong grasp of developmental milestones for young children.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a high level of patience, empathy, and a genuine love for nurturing young minds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively partner with a lead teacher and other educational professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment. 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and engage in classroom activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to quickly run to provide immediate support to a child in urgent situations.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • The work environment is generally a moderate noise level, typical of a school setting.
