Head of Middle School
Meet Louis Frank
Louis Frank has served as Head of Middle School at Wellington since 2023. His leadership emphasizes meaningful relationships, high expectations, and joyful, authentic, student-centered learning.
Louis has spent his entire career in middle school education. Before joining Wellington, he spent a decade at Shore Country Day School outside of Boston, beginning as a 5th-grade teacher of English, history, and math before moving into teaching 7th–9th grade English and serving as English Department Chair. In that role, he oversaw curriculum design, faculty hiring and mentorship, and professional growth, while championing discussion-based learning and writing across disciplines. He also held numerous leadership roles, including Grade 9 Coordinator, SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) Leader, AISNE Accreditation Chair, House Captain, and Head of Bias Response. Outside the classroom, he coached seven different sports, advised student clubs and coalition groups, and led community-building initiatives that strengthened connections and belonging across the school.
Earlier in his career, Louis was part of the Apprentice Teacher Training Program at New Canaan Country School in Connecticut, where he taught 6th-grade English, history, and math (and met his wife, a fellow middle-school educator). He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy with high honors and from the University of Pennsylvania cum laude with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology. He later earned an M.A. in English Literature from the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English and is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Policy at Boston College with a focus on social justice leadership.
