Wellington Alumni Association Board Toolkit

Advocate Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the Wellington Alumni Advisory Board (WAAB), you are part of a team of alumni leaders working to create meaningful, lasting connections between Wellington and its graduates. Your role centers on advancing four key strategies that foster engagement and pride:
- JagsConnect - Encourage alumni to use JagsConnect, Wellington’s career and mentorship platform. It’s a space where alumni can offer or request support, share opportunities, and stay connected to the school and each other.
- Storytelling - Help surface and share alumni stories that reflect the impact of a Wellington education. These stories inspire pride, celebrate success, and strengthen the school’s narrative across generations.
- Events - Support and attend alumni events that are social, celebratory, and inclusive. These gatherings foster community, create lasting memories, and reinforce the lifelong value of being a Wellington Jaguar.
- Philanthropic Support and Advocacy - When alumni feel connected through mentorship, stories, and events, giving becomes more authentic and meaningful. WAAB members lead by example—making personally meaningful gifts and encouraging others to support Wellington through peer-to-peer outreach that’s grounded in real connection.

Advocacy Expectations
WAAB members are expected to make a personally meaningful gift each year and encourage others to do the same. Strong engagement through JagsConnect, storytelling, and events helps build the trust and enthusiasm that drive successful fundraising.
Encourage alumni to join and actively use JagsConnect, Wellington’s career and mentorship platform. It’s a space where alumni can offer guidance, request support, and stay connected to the school and each other. WAAB members help model engagement by sharing opportunities, making introductions, and promoting the platform within their networks.
Support and attend alumni events that are social, celebratory, and inclusive. Whether it’s a regional gathering, a reunion, or a campus tradition, these events foster community and create meaningful opportunities for connection.

Submit or collect alumni stories that highlight personal growth, professional success, or meaningful Wellington memories. These stories are featured in newsletters, social media, and Jag Magazine.
GiveCampus
To participate in peer-to-peer fundraising, start by activating your GiveCampus account. This platform allows you to track your impact, share campaigns, and connect with fellow alumni in support of Wellington. WAAB members are encouraged to activate their accounts early in the year so they’re ready to lead by example during key campaigns like Day of Giving.
Why it matters: When alumni see familiar faces advocating for Wellington—especially those who are actively engaged through mentorship, events, and storytelling—they’re more likely to respond with enthusiasm and generosity.
Matching gifts and challenges are powerful tools to inspire giving. As a WAAB member, you can create a personalized challenge that reflects your connection to Wellington—whether it’s tied to your class year, a favorite teacher, or a specific campaign goal.
Make it meaningful: The most successful challenges are rooted in authentic stories. Consider tying your challenge to a memory, a mentor, or a moment that shaped your Wellington experience.
