Middle School Virtual Student Visit
Before the Event
During our virtual student visit, you will have a chance to observe one of our DIVE elective courses. DIVE courses merge student and teacher interests in highly engaging and meaningful ways. Teachers choose topics that they are passionate about and create courses that will entice students to expand their horizons. Students are given the opportunity to try out these different trimester-long courses throughout the year. The electives are primarily non-graded and the motivation to succeed comes from a thirst for knowledge rather than a hope for a certain letter grade.
Before your visit, please review the following DIVE video introductions to determine which course you would like to observe. Submit your selection using the link below.
Stock Market (grades 5-8)
Learn the fundamentals of investing in the stock market. Conduct research into companies, analyses price movements, discuss trends and build portfolio using a practice account.
Super Better (grades 5-8)
This course will turn coping strategies and the improvement of overall well-being into a game style format. Students will complete quests and challenges and play games to increase their ability to control their thoughts and emotions, strengthen relationships, and improve how they feel overall. They will also learn why completing these challenges leads to a difference in thoughts and feelings.
World War II (grades 7-8)
We will cover the events leading up to WWII through American involvement in the European and Pacific theaters of the war culminating in the decision to drop atomic weapons.
Elevate Your Game (grades 7-8)
This Dive is for athletes who want to learn from the experience and thinking of elite athletes to make themselves and their teams better. We will dive into such topics as improving performance, having a mental game, and leadership.
