Upper School Arts Week Showcases Why Art Is Essential 
During Upper School Arts Week, students explored careers in the arts, experimented with new techniques, and engaged in hands-on creative inquiry. With 19 visual arts courses offered in the upper school alone, the week showcased how Wellington treats the arts as foundational — not extracurricular. Read the blog

 

Robotics Students Build an Award-winning Autonomous Vehicle From Scratch 
Upper school students Bean Fischer ’26 and Hannah Guffrey ’25 earned 1st place in the high school division of the Autonomous Vehicle Challenge at the National Robotics Challenge — and took home the Honda Innovation Award for their event. Their months of coding, designing, and troubleshooting paid off with a robot that didn’t just meet the challenge — it set a new standard. Read the blog.  

 

Exploring What Comes Next: Juniors Connect With Alumni for a Day of Career Conversations 
Through candid conversations, mock interviews, and a round of Career Jeopardy, Wellington juniors gained real-world insights from alumni navigating bold and unexpected paths beyond high school. The event offered students a clearer, more confident view of their futures and reminded them that success is rarely a straight line. Read the blog.

May 2 Transportation, Dismissal, and Aftercare Details 

As we welcome our grandparents and special friends to campus on Friday, May 2, please note these important items: 

  • Carpooling or rotunda drop-off in the morning for guests is ideal to help with traffic flow.
  • Upper school student drivers will park off-campus and ride the shuttle.
  • There is no afternoon bus transportation offered by Wellington or area districts.
  • There will be no aftercare for middle school or early childhood and lower school.
  • We will offer a staggered dismissal plan for the early release. Car line pickup for those students without a grandparent or special friend in attendance should plan to arrive early to avoid the rush.  

11 a.m. - Dismissal without guests – all grade levels 
11:15 a.m. - Dismissal with guests – early childhood, lower school, middle school 
11:30 a.m. - Dismissal with guests – upper school 

 

Jag Friday (Dress Down Day) Moved to May 9

Jag Friday (dress down day) has been moved to May 9. For Grandparents and Special Friends Celebration on May 2, students should wear dress code-appropriate clothing or concert attire if performing. 

 

It's Not Too Late to Support Staffulty Appreciation Week 

Join us in supporting our wonderful faculty and staff for Staffulty Appreciation Week (May 5-9). Your generosity funds special treats and gift cards for each staff member, as well as other surprises. Advanced Studio Art & Design Exhibition and Reception - May 3 

All are welcome to join us on Saturday, May 3, from 1–3 p.m., at The Awesome Gallery for the annual Advanced Studio Art & Design Exhibition and Reception, featuring the work of our advanced studio art students. This year’s event also includes a special alumni gathering. Alumni planning to attend are asked to RSVP to alumni@wellington.org

 

Community Track Meet - May 18

Join us on May 18, from 5-7 p.m., for the Wellington Community Track Meet — a high-energy evening of running, jumping, and celebrating together. The event features fun, low-pressure events for students in kindergarten through grade 5, including the 100m dash, long jump, and relays. We’ll also take a moment to recognize our senior athletes as they close out their final season. Whether you’re there to race or to cheer, it’s a great way to connect and enjoy the spirit of sport. Spring Concerts in the BPAC

Wellington’s Performing Arts Department invites you to celebrate the season with music from our talented middle school performers. Upcoming concerts include 5th and 6th grade band and strings on Tuesday, May 6; 7th and 8th grade choir, strings, and band on Wednesday, May 7; and 5th and 6th grade choirs on Thursday, May 8. All performances begin at 6:30 p.m. in the BPAC.

 

Join Wellington at Pride Parade on June 14

Please join GSA, alumni, and the LGBTQIA+ Families Affinity Group on June 14 for Stonewall’s Pride Parade. Last year’s parade was a fun community event, and we hope to extend the participation! The step-off is at 10:30 a.m., and more details will be sent closer to the parade. Register to walk with Wellington by May 15.

 

AAPI Affinity Group Holi Program - May 17 

The AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Parent Affinity Group invites you to celebrate the Holi festival of colors with them on Saturday, May 17, from 3-6 p.m., at Wellington. Join us at the West Events Entrance, weather permitting, for some outdoor fun, including games, food trucks ($), music, and colored powders. Dress in light colors and in clothing that you don’t mind possibly staining. Restroom access will be limited to the annex building off of the Auxiliary field.

Pre-Loved Apparel Donations Needed 

Completing some spring cleaning? Don’t forget to donate the following items in excellent or gently used condition to our WPA Pre-Loved Apparel Sale. Drop off your donations at the front rotunda. 

  • Tan or navy pants or shorts
  • Long or short-sleeved navy, white, or gray polos
  • Wellington branded shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, or fleeces
  • Wellington plaid skirts, skorts, or jumpers (also tan jumpers)

Wellington proudly celebrates seven seniors who have committed to playing their sport at the next level. Representing a wide range of Wellington sports — including baseball, soccer, swimming, diving, basketball, and tennis — these talented student-athletes are a testament to the strength, development, and excellence of Wellington’s athletic program.

Spring Sports Update

Upper School:

Upper School Baseball: 
The upper school baseball team is off to its best start in a long time with a record of 11-4, including big league wins over Bishop Rosecrans, Miller (twice), Fisher Catholic, and Millersport. 

Upper School Tennis:
The tennis team is off to a great start this season, going 8-5, and is currently undefeated in league play, beating league rivals Hamilton Township (twice), Bloom-Carroll, Circleville (twice), Logan Elm (twice), and Fisher Catholic. Come out on May 6 as the team takes on Fisher Catholic at 4:30 p.m. for their Senior Night! 

Middle School:

Middle School Track and Field:
Middle school distance records have been dropping like flies this spring! This past week, Ben Austin ’30 broke the 800m and 1600m school records, and Ainsley Merl ’31 and Emma Jane Lumbley ’30 have been passing the baton back and forth for the 800m record! Also, Marla Tubuo ’29 continues to break her school records in the shot put and discus!
