Wellington Students Earn AP Scholar Awards
An impressive 16 Wellington students and members of the 2026 graduating class were recognized by College Board with AP Scholar Awards for their outstanding achievement on Advanced Placement Exams. Honors range from AP Scholar to AP Scholar with Distinction, reflecting exemplary college-level accomplishment across multiple subjects. Read the blog.

CELEBRATION

Congratulations to Vikram Dasa ’29 who earned first-place honors in America250’s America’s Field Trip contest for his essay on what America means to him. Vikram recently joined Good Day Columbus to talk about his winning essay and what the experience has meant to him. Learn more about Vikram and watch his segment on Good Day Columbus here

 

Alice Clark ’28 attended Notre Dame's Summer Scholars program in July. She spent two weeks immersed in the class "Time Traveler's Guide to Disease" with bio-archeology professor Dr. Susan Sheridan and classmates from across the US and Europe. In addition to earning a college credit for the course, Alice explored the campus, engaged in community service for the South Bend area, and took a class trip to the Field Museum in Chicago.

 

Please welcome Aloïs Le Cottier ’28 to the Wellington community! An exchange student from France, Aloïs is joining the upper school as a junior and is already showing his Jag spirit as a member of the Upper School Boys Soccer team. We are delighted to welcome Aloïs to our community and look forward to all he will bring to our school this year!

This year, we will hold two separate school picture days in order to manage the traffic flow with minimal disruption to the school day. Mark your calendars for the following dates and click here to learn more about ordering.

Well Connected: Community Coffee – September 9  

You’re invited to join Latisha Humphries, director of community engagement and belonging, for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, September 9, from 8:15–9:15 a.m., in Doerschlag Den. This informal gathering is an opportunity to connect, build community, and learn more about engagement and belonging at Wellington. No RSVP is required.

 

Upper School Harvest Mums Sale – Through September 11

Support Upper School Student Council and help fund this year's prom by purchasing fall mums. Grades 9–10 and grades 11–12 are competing for prizes, so choose your team when placing your order. Orders are due by Friday, September 11. Mums will be available for pickup on Tuesday, September 29, from 3:45-7 p.m., at Wellington.

Founders Day – September 18

Digital Citizenship Parent Group Meeting – September 24

The WPA Digital Citizenship Parent Group will be hosting special speaker Christina Conrad with the FBI. Meet Thursday, September 24, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in Ruscilli Conference Room. Zootopia Movie Night – September 25 

Please join HOLA (Hispanic Origin Latin American Parents) on Friday, September 25, from 6-8 p.m. in the Thomas Family Dining Room at Wellington for a FREE family-friendly event featuring Disney’s "Zootopia", a PG film featuring the importance of diversity and inclusion. Adult supervision is required. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided. Sign up here to attend! 

 

ReWilding Wellington Fall Service Day – September 27 

ReWilding Wellington is hosting a service day on Sunday, September 27, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All students and their families are welcome to join us from 10-11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for our next round of work removing invasive plants and clearing the way for new life and learning! Join us for coffee and conversation on Tuesday, September 29, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., in the Doerschlag Den. Head of School Eliza McLaren will share trimester one updates and reflections as we settle into the 2026-27 school year.

 

Parent Webinar Series: School Readiness: Executive Function Needed to "Do School" – September 29 

As part of our commitment to supporting families, Wellington is providing complimentary access to the ISACS Parent Webinar Series. The series begins on Tuesday, September 29, from 7:30-8:30 p.m., with executive function expert Sarah Ward. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of executive function skills and challenges and will leave with practical strategies to start the school year strong. This session is designed for parents of children in grades 3-12. View the registration guide.

New Ticketing for Home Athletic Events

Wellington students receive free admission to regular season home ticketed athletic events, plus three complimentary guest passes for every game. Students simply provide their name at the gate, while guests share the student's name with the gate attendant. Additional admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are purchased at the gate only. Cash and credit cards are accepted. 

 

Fall Sports Update 

Upper School: 

Cross Country: 
The Jaguars Cross Country team started the season this past Saturday at the Dan Reid Invitation and they started with a bang! Ben Austin made his varsity cross country debut by winning the race with a time of 17:25 (second best time in school history). On the girls side Emma Lumbley finished 5th with a 22:12, helping to lead the girls team to a 2nd place overall finish! 

Boys Soccer:
The Boys Upper School Soccer team is off to an undefeated 3-0-1 start in which they have outscored their opponents 18-4, and just managed a come from behind tie vs. rival Columbus Academy. 

Girls Soccer:
The Girls Upper School Soccer team is off to 2-3 start, led by sophomore Madeline Weaver who has nine goals already this season!
