Advancing Professional Growth Through ProTIP Certification With support from a Community Engagement Grant, Greg Davis, middle school language arts, and Maria Cellino P ’27, upper school math specialist, are leading the next phase of the Professional Teacher Improvement Program (ProTIP), a merit-based certification that strengthens teaching through reflection and research. Ajju Naveen ’36 recently earned her Second Degree (Dan) Taekwondo Black Belt, an impressive milestone that reflects her hard work and dedication. Her family also shared that she may be the youngest student to receive this certification from the Kukkiwon, Taekwondo’s global headquarters. Congratulations, Ajju!

Erica Clark P ’28, director of student success K–12, and Simon Leadston, middle school science, attended the International Conference on ADHD in Kansas City, November 13–15. They explored strategies for supporting executive function and emotional regulation, learned about new research in neuroscience and therapies, and gathered ideas to strengthen learning and focus. They look forward to bringing this knowledge back to Wellington.

Alumni and families gathered for the Day After Thanksgiving Alumni Games and Reunions, braving the chilly weather for games on Roberts Field, school tours, and time around the firepit. Thanks to Foris Extraordinary Meats and James Forbes ’02, guests enjoyed excellent food before continuing the celebration at Cafe Istanbul Dublin for the Reunion Happy Hour. Alumni from across generations, including the Class of 1989, reconnected and shared stories, making this annual tradition a wonderful success. Read the recap.

Tori Charbonneau, early childhood lead, welcomed one of her former professors and a senior from Heidelberg University to Wellington. They spent the morning in her kindergarten classroom, observing and gathering insights for research on positive, child-focused learning environments. It was a meaningful full-circle moment for Charbonneau to share the work happening at Wellington and contribute to research that will continue strengthening early childhood education.

Shelley Brown P ’32 ’33 ’38, assistant head of school for academics and head of early childhood and lower school; Kelly Presson, lower school lead; Rishi Raghunathan P ’27 ’30, head of upper school; and Justine Smith P ’39, early childhood and lower school learning specialist, attended the ISACS Annual Conference in Indianapolis this November.
Brown and Smith presented “Building Connections: Engaging Activities for Students and Staff”, and Raghunathan presented “Not Another Exit Interview: Retaining Teachers Through Purposeful Leadership." Presson represented Wellington as the lead learner.

Wellington is launching a new community tradition: Wellington Sunday Supper. Our first gathering will take place Sunday, January 18, from 4-7 p.m., in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The evening will include a shared meal, time for reflection and conversation centered on “The Letter from Birmingham Jail,” and opportunities to connect with fellow families. Grandparents and special friends are invited to our annual celebration on Friday, May 1, 2026. We need your help to ensure invitations are sent to grandparents. Please log in to your Veracross parent portal and navigate to Family Profile Changes, Household Contacts, and Contacts for My Children to ADD grandparent email and mailing addresses (please no parent information). For existing grandparent records, you must email to share address updates. To request that grandparents DO NOT receive a printed or digital invitation in March, email eggleton@wellington.org by February 13. If your child does not have a grandparent to attend on May 1, consider sharing the registration link with a special friend (18+) once registration opens on March 27. Stay tuned. Questions? WPA Pre-Loved and Ski Apparel Sales & Winter Apparel Donations Needed
Join the WPA on Friday, December 5, from 7:30-8:30 a.m., in C147. Proceed down the lower school hallway and up the steps. Then, follow the sign to turn right at the Alumni Commons. C147 is the old athletics training room. The sale will have ski apparel available for all ages, regardless of participation in the winter ski program. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to gear up for the season.

Undefeated Season for Ben Austin ’30 Concludes With State Title Ben Austin ’30 capped an extraordinary cross country season with an undefeated regular season and a state championship, earning one of the fastest times in the nation at 10:02.58. He set a new Wellington record and holds multiple track records, reflecting his discipline, range, and growing leadership within the program. Jaguar Invitational - December 5 and 6 The 36th Annual Jaguar Invitational Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament starts tomorrow, Friday, December 5, with the girls varsity basketball team taking on Patriot Prep at 2 p.m., and the boys varsity team taking on Cristo Rey at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the consolation games will be at 10 a.m. (girls) and 12 p.m. (boys), and the championship games will take place at 2 p.m. (boys) and 4 p.m. (girls). Be sure to come out and support your Jaguars as they look to keep their great starts rolling!

Upper School Girls Basketball: The varsity girls are off to a 2-1 start with big wins over league opponents Bishop Rosecrans by 10 points in overtime and Fairfield Christian by 16!
Upper School Swim and Dive: The varsity swim and dive team had their first meet of the season, and nine swimmers swam a total of 19 personal records! Jack Mahaffey '27 kicked off his season with wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 back, as well as being a part of the 200 free relay with Liam Withrow '28, Charlie Armitage '28, and River Kaser '27.
